Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year Events:
Celebrating a Century of Friendship

The year 2024 marks a significant milestone in Turkish-Hungarian relations. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Turkish-Hungarian Friendship Agreement signed in 1923, a series of events are being organized under the theme "Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year: A Century of Friendship and Cooperation."
Within this scope, the event held in Trabzon once again highlighted the cultural ties between the two nations.
The events were attended by His Excellency Viktor Mátis, Ambassador of Hungary, Honorary Consul Mr. Umut Durbakayım, the Director of the Hungarian Cultural Center Mr. Áron Sipos, along with their accompanying delegation.
The Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year events not only strengthen the century-long friendship and cooperation between the two nations but also create opportunities for forging new connections among their people through the sharing of cultural values.

Trabzon Governorate

The delegation visited Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım at his office. During the meeting, the depth and strength of the relations between the two countries were emphasized. Governor Yıldırım highlighted the increasing importance of political and cultural ties as well as economic relations between Turkey and Hungary. He also noted that such visits further strengthen mutual cooperation.


Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality

The delegation visited the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç at his office. After an exchange of views, a wreath was laid at the Turkish-Hungarian Friendship Monument located in the Ganita area, once again emphasizing the symbol of friendship between the two countries.


Cultural Center Event
At the events held at the Hamamizade İhsan Bey Cultural Center, the famous Hungarian folk music group Horşa and Viktoria Havay presented an unforgettable concert and dance performance to the audience.
The people of Trabzon had the opportunity to closely explore Hungary's rich musical heritage through this cultural celebration. At the end of the evening, the famous goulash soup, one of the symbols of Hungarian cuisine, was served, and the spirit of friendship was crowned at the sharing tables.
